Video Transcript for Thule Watersport Carriers TH530 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a quick look at Quick Loops for Thule bow and stern tie-downs. This kit creates two easily accessible temporary mounting points on your vehicle for your bow and stern tie-downs. They install directly on the vehicle, so you can place one under the hood. That way the strap is the only portion that will be visible, and then you can place the other one under your rear trunk or rear hatch. No drilling required. What these do is they simply eliminate the need to run tie-downs all the way down to the bumper, and they have the nice large loop so that way you can easily secure your bow and stern tie-downs. They also help keep the tie-downs farther away from the vehicle surface, deterring scratches and abrasions.

They're constructed of heavy-duty UV-resistant nylon when it comes to the strap, and then this is like a rubber construction material right here. These are just your bumpers, which secure under the hood or under the trunk or hatch. Two loops are included. The strap itself from the top of the bumper to the end of the strap we're going to say measures about eight inches long. The strap measures about one inch wide. The bumper itself is about four inches long.

It has a diameter of about one and three-eighths inches, and this is covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Quick Loops for Thule bow and stern tie-downs.

I purchased a 2017 Subaru Outback. To transport my 1981 17 foot QT17C Alumacraft canoe on the factory installed roof rack crossbars that came with the Outback, I selected the Thule Portage Canoe Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Gunwale Brackets - Side Loading - TH819 to do the trick. I did some advance research online and couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase from etrailer.com. I now have a quality product at the right price and these gunwale brackets are a simple solution for this veteran canoe man. I’m also impressed with the bow/stern tie downs that have a very nice ratchet and clip on one end and I secured the supplied hook with a bowline knot to the other end of the ¼ inch rope. The Outback did not have convenient anchor points on the front or back of the vehicle for tie down locations but I found a good solution by ordering the Thule Bow/Stern Tie-Downs - Qty 2 - TH530. This works well with the tie downs I mentioned previously. I no longer need to crawl under the vehicle looking a way to secure the canoe. I look forward to many more years of safe and happy canoeing I give etrailer.com an excellent rating for the entire ordering and shipping process on top of the high level of satisfaction with the products I purchased through them. Their customer service and price ensured me that I’ll do more business with them in the future.

Etrailer is the only supplier which I found that had the total package of towers, cross bars and locks. Ordering was easy and shipment was shipped and received quickly, ordered on Saturday package arrived on Monday, tracking was included. I also order ordered the Thule tie downs and Etrailer tucked them on the roof rack package so I received everything in one box. A follow up email was sent confirming order had been delivered. The rack was in stalled on a 2013 RAV4.

these are the easiest, secure tie down items for bow and stern , Extremely clever. Just close the hood and/or trunk or hatch back down on them, and tie off to intergral loops. I use for canooe and kayaks. No need to get under vehicle to find a tie off .

etrailer provides great communication and quick shipping. The replacement pads fit my Thule kayak racks perfectly and with these new loops I'll be able to use the tie down ropes easily.

Comments
These tie down loops come in very handy on my new car that lacks the towing hooks that I used to use on my old one and hold just as securely.

Simple, elegant and convenient solution to securing kayaks (etc.) to your vehicle. If you paddle longer boats (my kayaks are 14, 14.5 and 15 feet long) I recommend getting the Thule Bow/Stern Tie Downs (TH530) for convenient temporary bow & stern tie down points, without crawling under the vehicle to attach to the frame. I use them with my Thule Hull-A=Port Kayak carriers.

I personally love the quick loops. I have no place to attach tie downs to my car. I placed the front one under hood of passenger side and the rear one in the trunk, passenger side again. Holds tight and leaves no marks on paint.

After a year they still work perfectly....would recommend.

Worked well on both hood and tailgate of 2012 Subaru Outback to provide additional tie-down security for boats strapped into roof rack carriers. Was a little worried about the hood location and whether the plastic would be impacted by proximity to hot top of radiator but have had no issues. Great product if your vehicle has limited options for tiedowns on or under front or rear bumpers.

My Ford Escape has no good tie down spots (which surprised me for an SUV type vehicle). These straps allow me to easily tie down to a secure spot, both front and rear.

still works good

These work well enough I suppose but I wish they were a couple inches longer. With my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee there are only a couple of locations under the hood and rear hatch where the staps can actually be placed and still stick out far enough where you can hook them. The rear hatch especially, the strap sticks out barely enough for me to insert my hook. But, they work and a solid overall. Would I buy them again, no. There is another set on eTtailer from a different company, that appear much longer and half the price, those I would buy.

Haven't utilized these yet as I just receive my hitch assembly and I need to figure out where these will attach on/inside/from the hatch of the 2015 VW GTI! I WILL use them though as the bike rack could bend the hitch assembly since it's only an 1" square....

These are great!! Both of the tow hooks on my Kia Soul are on the passenger side of the vehicle and I didn’t trust tying my kayak on top with the bow and stearn off to the same side. These straps are completely sturdy and gave me the option to tie to the center, front and back!! Great product!!

I purchased two sets of the Thule Quick Loops for my daughter and myself. We love them! No having to find the proper place to tie down our kayaks..just open the hood and back hatch and good to go. Also the shipping time was fantastic. Thank you from a couple of new and happy kayakers.

Excellent wall racks for our 10 ft. 51 lb. kayaks. Takes some time to get them aligned and installed on the studs but once completed they are fine. Like that they swing flat to the wall when not holding the kayaks. The only negative is that the factory sup[plied screrws are worse than awful - - even with pre-drilled holes as suggested and using a power drill driver the heads stripped almost immediately. So, a quick trip to the local True Value and $7.45 invested for "real" stainless steel screws and done!!

Come in handy. Allow you to secure bow and stern without fear of damaging paint. Used with a cam buckle without the hook and worked perfect. Highly reccomend.

These Tie-Downs are so easy to use and are great for securing the bow and stern of our boats instead of tying off on the trailer hitch and risking marring the paint on our car. Great idea!

Great product. Is very easy to install and uninstall. Is also the best solution to fastening the load in the rear if desired.

These are handy for longer kayaks. Easy to use. Keeps you out from under your car trying to find tie spots. If your car has autoclosing backgate you might have to override it for it to close.

The black tube and blue strap makes them really hard to see in a dark trunk, I suggest a different color for the tube maybe an orange, because they are not seen while driving. they worked as suggested and I had no problesm with them, but they can be easily lost

  • How to Secure Kayak at the Front of a 2017 Honda CR-V
If you aren't able to find a suitable location to secure your kayak to your 2017 Honda CR-V then that's when we need alternative tie-down anchors. I really like the options from Thule with their Quick-Loops # TH530 which you place under the hod each time you need to load your kayak up, or the Hood Loops # TH529 which are more of a permanent installation and are the better choice if you go kayaking on a regular basis. I have attached review videos of both products as well as an installation...

  • Does Location Matter When Using Thule Quick Loops To Secure Kayak On 2011 Toyota Prius
As long as the Quick Loops # TH530 are in the trunk or hood cavity and away from anything moving or hot, they will hold the bow or stern of the kayak secure. These are made of a sturdy nylon webbing. As far as where in the trunk or under the hood they are placed, as long as the tie-down can be cinched securely, the location would not really matter. I have attached a link to a video that shows the Quick Loops being used you can check out.

  • Where to Tie Down Kayak Bow and Stern on a 2015 Subaru Outback
Finding a tie down location on a vehicle when carrying kayaks can be a challenge. If there isn't a convenient place available you can use the Thule Quick Loops, # TH530. You will close the cylinder part under the hood away from anything that gets hot or moving parts. The strap part will stay outside of the vehicle providing a tie down point. If you reach your kayaking destination you can leave the Quick Loops for Thule Bow/Stern Tie-Downs # TH530 in place as you will be re-using them again making your return trip. Once you get home, however, they should be removed.
