Removable 2-Bike Add-On

Thule T2 Pro X ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR carries 4 bikes, however the front 2 positions can be easily removed so there's less of a load on you and your vehicle if only 2 people are going riding. When it's not needed, simply remove the front section with the included Allen key and throw it in your trunk or leave it at home. To convert the rack to carry 2 bikes, simply remove the handle from the bike rack base, remove the add-on, then reinstall the handle.

Pivoting Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

Ratcheting hooks grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To unload your bike, press the gray button on the upright arm to release the ratcheting hook, and slide the hook up.

Sliding Rear Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro XTR sliding wheel trays

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The cradles slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting designThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting design

To make tilting and folding easier, the T2 Pro XTR's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Thule T2 Pro XTR cable locksThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR has built-in wheels that let you easily roll the rack so you don't have to lift it and carry it to your vehicle.

Complete Security

Thule Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The T2 Pro XTR includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks thread around your bikes' frames and insert into the lock that slides along the cable. The cables store inside the arms when not in use.

Thule T2 Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

Vast improvement over the old Thule rack. The instructions could have been a little clearer for installing the locks. Better and clearer pictures needed. I’m happy to see lock tight is on the screws. I love the tilt and the built in Wheels that allow me to move the rack without picking it up and carrying it.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

The quality of the rack is very sturdy and well built. I needed a rack that has a 12” spacing between wheels do to the baskets on each bike, and this rack delivered that. The issues I have with this rack are: I have a GMC Yukon suv and with the rack mounted I have to lift my two Lecritc 2.0 e-bikes, at 60 pounds each up over 24” to get it mounted. It sure could use ramps, which I know it did not come with. The clamp hold down does not work with fenders on a bike. It does not clamp very well on the cross bar (male and female) type do to the width and the angle of the cross bars. When clamping in front of the front fender makes the bike very unstable, and will require additional strapping and tie downs to secure the bikes. It claims it is for e-bikes, but only if it has no fenders. Nice rack, just not for me.

Those are some impressive bikes! I do have alternate bike racks to consider. One is part # Y36FR
Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
$728.95
which does come with a ramp to make it easier to load the bikes. You can view it in the link below on a 2015 Toyota 4 Runner. Another new option is part # SAR42RR. This one does require for the vehicle to have a seven way installed. It is unique in that it has an electric lift to install the bikes. You can see a review of it in the link below.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

I had a great trunk rack. However, it would not hold an E bike due to the weight. This rack does a great job of holding my E bike. The rack also allows for me to get into my hatch where a trunk rack would not.

Comments
Ive had this hitch rack for a year now. This is a great rack. It is still a great investment. I dont have any problems with the bikes on the rack. It also is very durable.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

When I was in the market for a bike rack, I wanted to get the brand Teo of the guys I ride with have. I had used those racks while going to different places with them. This brand was out of stock and when it finally came back in stock, it was more expensive than before, so I decided to get Thule T2 Pro XTR. This was a really good decision. I like this rack much more than the brand I originally wanted to get.

I highly recommend it.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

I previously owned the Thule T2 classic hitch that was damaged in an accident. After researching a replacement, I found the reliability of Thule and significant advantage of being able to easily roll the XTR into the hitch with very little lifting effort. This is a major improvement considering the weight and unwieldy nature of the Classic version. The only negative as compared to the Classic version, is loss of the lockable wheel bars and the awkward short lockable cables on the XTR.
This is more than offset by the ease of mobilty and use of the XTR model.

I love this bike rack, was told it was extremely hard to get last summer with supply chain but etrailer had one and it got to us quickly. We have 2 pedal-assist e-bikes, one is quite heavy; no issues whatsoever with this rack, it is excellent. Highly recommend both the rack and etrailer.com

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

Good hitch...no issues after year of use on a 2015 Honda Accord sport. The hitch bottom outs a lot due to the low clearance but this isn't a fault of the hitch. The Honda Accord does not have a lot of ground clearance.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

The Thule T2 Pro XTR rack is outstanding. It is sturdy and built to last, and the wheels make it easy to slide up to the trailer hitch and engage it easily. The tilt feature leaves adequate access to the back of my Subaru Forester. The bikes ride in complete security. My one quibble is that the locking cables are far too short to be useful on our bikes.

Rack is well made it works grate.. couple thing it will help with putting together rack if you can provide a link with a video how to put it together because instructions shows pictures and is hard to figure out some parts and second after you size your eBikes to plataform do not loose strap from front tire because bike will lean against car and will may damage car. Which it happened to me !!

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

Works great for carrying our e-bikes and mountain bikes. Solid construction. Stable and secure in use. Integral cable locks are nice. On our 2012 Rav4, there's plenty of clearance between the spare tire cover and nearest bike. Clearance is adequate between the spare cover and carrier with the carrier folded up.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

I have no issue with etrailer.com. My order was shipped promptly and as usual their communication was stellar. When I received the product, the box had several holes in it and over half the assembly hardware was missing. I got replacement hardware locally. I bought the rack to carry our e-bikes on the back of our trailer. It replaces a Kuat that isn’t heavy enough to do the job. The product seems sturdy enough but the assembly instructions are pitiful; some of the worst I have ever seen. You’d think that a product at this price point would have decent instructions. Thank heaven for [online videos] In comparison with my Kuat, the fit and finish is much better on the Kuat. I do have high hopes for this product, but so far the jury is out.

Review from a similar T2 Pro XTR in Hitch Bike Racks

This bike rack is amazing! Only negative is that the included instructions for assembly are not great, but videos I found online helped with that. I can install this rack on my hitch and have bikes loaded up in just a few minutes, and it makes traveling with our bikes easy since we can still tilt it down to access the back hatch even with bikes attached. Best of all, this rack is INCREDIBLY sturdy. On vacation with two bikes in tow, I got a flat tire on my car and had my car towed to a dealership to get new tires. I had to have it towed on a flatbed because it was the only way to transport the bikes as the back of the car was full of luggage. When the tow truck started to pull my Highlander onto the bed, the angle of the car/flatbed was steep enough that the bottom of the bike rack (an angled piece of metal that hangs down where right where the rack attaches to the hitch) began scraping the ground. I was worried that the bike rack had been damaged, but it didn't even get scratched even though the metal of the rack scraped about a half inch off the surface of the asphalt!

  • Wheel Mounted Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for a Front Hitch
Sounds like you are looking for a platform bike rack that uses wheel mounts that is stable while in use. For that I would recommend the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV. This is a great rack that uses wheel mounts like you said you liked and will fit your 2 inch hitch. This rack also features and anti-rattle device built into the hitch pin so that when tightened will prevent movement while traveling. • Will the Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon
The Thule T2 Pro XTR, # TH69TX, will fold, it just depends on how much clearance there is between the rack and the vehicle it is on. In order to determine if the bike rack will fit when folded on your 2012 Subaru Outback, there is one important measurement you will need to take. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the Outback to the distance required to clear the rear bumper of the vehicle. If that distance is less than5 inches, the rack will fit when folded. Yes, The Thule T2Pro XTR Platform-Style 4 Bike Carrier, # TH69TX, will separate into a 2 bike rack and can be reassembled as a 4 bike rack. To install the expansion rack you will need to remove the plug from the end of the base rack and then insert the expansion rack. • Ground Clearance on the Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
Because of the way the Thule T2, # TH9044-TH9046, is designed, there is actually a rise of 4-3/4 inches from the top of the receiver opening on the trailer hitch to the bottom of the nearest platform. The rack angles up even more towards the back and the bottom of the furthest end from the receiver is 3/4 inches higher. The ground clearance at the furthest point is 14 inches. This is above the hitch on your vehicle. Based on this rise you will not have to worry too much about ground clearance...

When you say "Bike started to come off the back of the trailer" does that mean that you are using the T2 Pro XTR # TH69TX on the back of a trailer? If so then that could be the problem. The issue is that there is significantly more movement and bouncing at the back of a trailer compared to the back of a passenger vehicle. Because of this not all bike racks can be used at the back of a trailer or RV. The T2 Classic is not rated for this application so that significant movement could be what...
