The Thule Canyon XT cargo basket allows you to easily transport a wide range of gear on your vehicle's roof. It maximizes your vehicle's cargo carrying capacity and keeps dirty and damp gear outside of the vehicle. A built-in fairing reduces drag and wind noise, and the mounting hardware is adjustable to accommodate different crossbar spreads.
The low-profile Canyon XT is wedge-shaped and aerodynamic. A wind fairing attaches to the front of the basket to help redirect air up and over the basket. This helps to reduce drag and wind noise. And the side walls are tapered for easy loading.
The basket has universal mounting hardware that fits most crossbar styles, and the hardware adjusts to accommodate most crossbar spreads.
You can position the hardware anywhere along the bottom of the basket to match your crossbar spread. The hardware easily clamps to basket's bottom rails.
To install the basket, simply align the included U-bolts under your crossbars and use the hand knobs to tighten them to the mounting hardware. The system includes 3 sets of U-bolts to accommodate most crossbar sizes.
You can also mount the basket directly into your crossbar's top channels using the included T-bolts. Just slide the T-bolts into the crossbar top channels and use the hand knobs to tighten them to the mounting hardware.
To increase the basket's cargo carrying capacity, install the Thule Canyon XT basket extension (TH8591XT - sold separately). This 20" extension allows you to carry extra-long gear on your vehicle's roof.

We were very happy with our Thule roof rack. The low profile design works well and does not have too much wind noise compared to others I’ve had. It’s held up very well also through the seasons.

It will definitely give us more interior room or additional cargo capacity!
I highly suggest reading the directions a few times before you start & during assembly. Some parts are in the same bag for a step while other steps need parts from different bags.
Depending on your vehicle, all parts may not be used. So make sure the parts you have left over are the right ones!

Marlon G - 08/04/2021Others stated directions were hard to follow but my husband had it installed on my 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon in less than an hour by himself the only thing I helped with was lifting it up and off the roof of the car. I chose Thule because they stand behind their product. Thule is the best cargo roof basket available on the market and they back it up with a Lifetime Warranty! I have not had any cargo in it yet but have had it up to 75 miles an hour with no wind drag empty. There is a speed rating on this basket of 80 miles an hour so I wonder if the wind complaint reviewers are driving in excess of 80 miles an hour. No matter what vehicle you put it on it has a nice, sleek, sturdy appearance. From what I have researched the less expensive roof cargo baskets only have up to a 2 year warranty and are plagued by rust issues.
Received and installed just in time for a family trip to a cabin. This rack was perfect for storing coolers and bags to free up space in the back of the car. The only difficult step in the installation was getting it as close to centered as possible on the roof rails.
Very happy with product and time frame of delivery and the tracking info is always a great asset. Easy to assemble. My only problem was i needed help getting in on the roof of the truck. Also liked the how to and information about the product videos . Thank you . Next item is the cargo bag. :)
The Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket was a great addition to our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Works great with a rooftop bag to haul additional gear on long trips.
Fast shipping, no shipping damage, and great service. Will be using etrailer in the future if I need anymore gear for my vehicle.
Basket is sturdy and wasn't bad to install. I've used it several times and it's great to have with a new car because stuff I don't want in car goes up there. I ride bikes and basket is great for weekend bike trips for extra space as well as whatever I need to haul and construction makes it easy to hook load straps and secure load. Basket does make some noise but it's worth it. Overall great purchase that I plan to get lots of use out of.
Ronald A - 12/12/2020Works good, nice and sturdy. Make sure you check the nuts on the deflector shield every once and a while. I had one come off.
Do not buy unless you like wind noise. They will not do a return no matter how unhappy you are.

I’d been looking at this product for a while. No oversize shipping fee. Fairly straightforward directions— IKEA experience a plus. Looks great on the Outback. Feels solid, and is ready to go.
Great product and absolutely awesome service. I originally order the Thule Canyon XT basket from a VERY well know online entity. I wasn't able to get a ship date (they said a would be notified via email when a firm date had been established. After two days of waiting for the message, I cancelled the order and checked etrailer.com. They had the same Thule basket at the same price, so I ordered it. It wasn't 10 minutes later that I received an email thanking me for the order and further stating that the product had shipped!!!!!! A UPS tracking number came early the next day!!!! Great product, great price and great service!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks - etrailer..........

My cargo basket arrived so fast and in perfect condition. I had planned to order this item from the dealer when I recently bought my 2021 Subaru Outback, but when they told me this Thule Canyon XT was backordered until August, I decided to check online. etrailer had it in stock and shipped next day! This a real great product. I have had about 2 year. Took it Miami to Baltimore and back again full of tools. This summer took on a 6500 mile trip out west, carrying about 150 pounds on the roof. Held up great used with a cargo waterproof bag.
The product it’s self is great. It’s a Thule product so you know what you’re getting when you order it. Very stylish and the coating on the basket seems like it will hold up. This is something that is not meant to be taken on and off regularly. It does take some time to install the basket. I did it myself in about an hour. I do feel like the plastic wind shield on it could have had a better set up. Doesn’t look to strong but time will tell

I ordered this on sale on Black Friday. The item took about 2 weeks to ship but once it did it only took 2 days to arrive. I recieved several emails updating me on my order status which was great comminitication. It seems that basket was delayed due to supplies from Thule because other retailers stopped taking orders on it.
Overall the basket looks great on my Subaru Crosstrek and is what I expected from the product.
Purchased this rack and the THULE wind screen shown in picture above is PLASTIC. Would not be a big deal except for when installed it was bent due to the location of the attach points. LOOKED LIKE CRAP. Called to discuss and got the "pass the buck" from etrailer "not our issue-way its made". We took it off but had to put it back on due to a ridiculous amount of wind noise. Poor product. Poor service. Never used again and hitting the trash. Big regret.
Initially was looking at a different brand but spoke with staff at etrailer. Was provided details and information to make a good decision.
The Rola basket is study and easy to assemble.
Besides the box arriving to the house which appeared to have been dropped and dragged for a few miles behind the truck all was well. The box w as the part of the assembly so no problems and no damage to product.
I would recommend this product And etrailer!
