Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
The Thule Passage offers an affordable, safe way to transport three bikes without a hitch. The Passage mounts to the rear of your vehicle with six integrated straps and Thule's patented Fit Dial system, which adjusts the rack base to ensure a snug fit.
The Passage includes cushioned anti-sway cradles with Thule's No-Sway Cage accessories to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. The anti-sway cradles also keep your bikes from making contact with the vehicle.
The carrier's dual support arms provide stability for your bikes during transit, and the arms conveniently fold down when not in use for additional rear clearance and easy storage.

The cradles for the top tube of the bike frame are nice. Sometimes the rubber straps that you pull over a post to secure things in place are a little tight, I wish they were stretchier. But they keep things feeling good and secure. Overall it's convenient and sturdy, works with my car, and is a good value!
Easy to assemble and attach to my 2015 Subaru Forester. I have been very pleased with the purchase. The bikes are fairly easy to load, although I have only had two bikes on at once (adult and teen-sized mountain bikes). Rack is secure when attached to car, as are the bikes to the rack. Longest car trip has been 3.5 hrs...no problems.
Love this bike rack! I’ve had it for a year and used it a handful of times. Mostly my bike by itself but I have put two bikes on it several times. No issues. It was not meant to put on my Mercedes-Benz C30 2019. It was made for earlier years and I could not find one anywhere for my 2019. It works fine!
I also appreciate that the company reached out to me after a year and asked me to write a review. That says a lot about the confidence in their product. Most companies would be afraid to ask about their products quality after a year.
I like the versatility of this product. It works on our 2013 Town & Country and 2017 Nissan Altima. Just have 1 issue, the rubber tie straps are too difficult. I even have an occasional tough time depending onvthe angle. It is important to make sure to put the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle! We left for vacation and didn't want to take an expensive bike, so we purchased a bike on our way. Not wanting to waste any time, i put it on the outside. within 2 hrs I noticed something didn't seem right. The bracket looked like it broke and the new bike was just inches off the expressway!!!! I was not in a good part of town so i used bungees to secure it. Did it correctly on the way home and it did fine. The hole is a little wore out that it clicks in to place! Over all very good deal!
Fits perfectly on our Lexus CT200h. Only on the old LS400, the side straps have to be fastened to the wheel arch edge, since the upper trunklid gap is to narrow for inserting the strap hooks. Mounting of two bikes is (with some routine) quickly done, and they stay safe even for longer and faster routes. For transporting three (mountain) bikes, though, the design doesn't seem big and robust enough. Nevertheless, the price-benefit-fun ratios are way better than reasonable.
My family and I use this bike rack almost year round. The bike rack is sturdy and keeps the bikes from swaying. I am usually nervous whenever I haul anything but I feel confident that everything is secure. I think my favorite aspect of this bike rack is that I can switch it between the cars in our home without issue.
I like the bike rack in general, just a couple of things:
the small buttons that allow you to fold down the arms are difficult to push and hold so that you can fold the arm. maybe a design similar to the part of the rack where you lock the arms to a specific # based on your vehicle might work better (i.e. a bolt that you can thread through and tighten)
unfortunately my 2018 subaru outback has a protective rubber piece on top of the bumper which does not allow me to attach the bottom hooks. Even if I attach the hooks with the trunkn open, it will not close because it "senses" the hooks
Great and simple to use Nile rack. Our bikes are held in place with minimal movement and zero noise over bumpy roads.
I would not buy this again. It’s hard to attach to the car, hard to load and strap down the bikes and it scratches the bikes where they are in contact with the rack. We bought a hitch mounted rack system instead and are much happier. Wish I hadn’t wasted money on this rack.
Just what I was expecting. Great quality great product.
The bike rack was easy to put together and attached it to my car, however, it would have been nice to include in the description or suggest that another part is needed for women's bikes. These bike racks are designed for men's bikes not women's. I did not know this until it was too late trying to attach 3 women's bikes on the day of vacation. It was impossible without the needed part- Thule bike adapter bar for women's and alternative bikes which is [$] for one and I would have needed 3. I had 3 very disappointed teenagers. Plus, I'm not happy that I would need to spend another [3 x $] just to make the bike rack workable for women's bikes.
For the price, the carrier is mostly a good product. Three bikes is a lot of weight on it. It took a few tries to get it positioned correctly on the car the first time I used it, as it kept shifting down on the car's tailgate. The bottom bar caused some damage on the top of the bumper. I don't think any of the other trunk mounted carriers are better, hence still giving it three stars.
The rack was shipped super quickly and we loved the tracking of the order status. Top notch. We have 2 adult size normal bikes and 1 child’s bike and no matter what we do we cannot fit all 3 bikes on the rack. There simply isn’t enough space between the mounted bike holders.
The trunk mount three bike rack was delivered, came out of the box, assembled, mounted on my Kia's trunk then stored in my trunk easily. So far, so good!
Great product, high quality, fits our Outback perfectly. Bike fits the rack great. Painless ordering with etrailer and prompt delivery. Only concern was that the shipper banged up the box pretty hard, but the bike rack was not damaged.
I only used the bike rack twice. It did not safely hold my bikes on my Hyundai Elantra. The website stated that it was for the Hyundai Elantra but the fasteners did not fit the opening on the top of the trunk.
Found the perfect rack for my car. Rack holds securely and does not rub against the car/bikes securely away from vehicle itself.
Recommend highly. I searched other sites and etrailer was extremely competitive plus told me the best rack for my vehicle.
I had no trouble installing the bike rack; I give it such a poor rating because it did not perform its essential task: remaining in position to keep the bicycles in place. Specifically, the bike arm did not lock into the carrier sufficiently for a road trip. That is, on one of the arms, the button did not remain engaged in the hub to keep the bike arm stationary (picture of faulty hub with "engaged" button). I think this was a function of the hub and not the button because after a the bicycle first dragged on the highway, we removed all the bikes and switched the bike arms. Nevertheless, the same hub did not keep the button engaged and the arm gradually slipped toward the ground (we relied on rope and bungee cords to complete the trip). Two other complaints (1) women's bikes are not so "unconventional"; the need for an adapter should be more prominently advertised, and (2) getting the third bicycle on the rack is next to impossible--there should be a video showing how this can be achieved.
The rack arrived yesterday and my husband put it together and we attached it to the back of our 2012 Camry without any difficulty. We put one bike on it but I need to get an adapter bar connected to mine before I can try putting mine on. The directions were fairly easy and it seems like it will work out fine, tho we haven't actually used it yet
I have only put two adult bikes on the rack and I’m concerned that a third bike would not fit because of the closeness of the bicycle mounts on the rack
Love the product for what it is. The delay in shipping by a week not so much love
Great rack- easy to install
Great value that meets my needs to haul 3 bikes on back of my SUV. I did not want to have a hitch installed solely to mount a bike carrier so this makes sense. Product was delivered and within 15 mins I had it assembled and was driving to the bike shop.
All the clips that mount to the rear hatch are coated so no concern over scratching. All but the bottom 2 clips slide in with the hatch shut; the bottom two requiring opening the hatch and shutting to get them in.....a little cumbersome but still just a few seconds to take care of.
The bike rack hangs far enough out so the bike closest to the car is still 6" away from bumper. But, when braking, the bike does swing forward and hit the rear bumper. Positioning the pedals to avoid having one aim square at the bumper helped. This may be a common issue on this kind of rack; it was not something I experienced on an older spare tire mounted rack where the bike was snug up to the spare so no swaying.
All in all a quality rack that is sturdy when mounted and comes on and off with ease.
Worked great on back of my 2007 Toyota sienna. Holds 3 but I carried only two. Women's bike do need the additional crossbar.
After using this bike carrier for several months, it proved to be not sturdy enough for the two bikes we have even though it is a three bike carrier. I decided to purchase a trailer hitch and purchase a trailer hitch bike carrier. The hitch and carrier work much better to my satisfaction.
