These GlowStep Stow N' Go steps have a bolt-on mounting base that installs on the outside of your camper. The base provides a strong and stable connection to your camper, and it attaches permanently using the included mounting hardware. When you're ready to roll, just collapse the steps, fold them up, and snap them into the base of the bracket. The stabilizing bracket not only holds the steps in place on the outside of your camper, but it also prevents unwanted movement and rattle. For ultimate security, add on a TorkLift pin lock (TLA7509 - sold separately) to lock the steps to the bracket.
Will Torklift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps Work for You?
Scissor steps are typically installed on truck campers. The Stow N' Go scissor steps from Torklift are easy to install and lock into the mounting bracket while on the go. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.
The Stow N' Go scissor steps have a single mounting bracket that attaches to either the camper wall or the truck bumper beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available for the mounting bracket on your application and measure the width and height. You will need an area of at least 23" wide and 3-1/2" tall.
Once you have an approximation of where the mounting bracket will go, the spot you chose will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.
How Many Steps Do You Need?
To decide on how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, and it will tell you how many steps you need.
The chart below displays entry height measurements in the first column. The step part numbers with the 21-1/2" mounting bracket width are in the second column.

How Do You Install the Steps?
To install the steps:
Find the mounting spot for the bracket on your vehicle
Unfold the steps and attach to the mounting bracket
Place the step assembly against the camper or bumper
-Make sure the assembly is centered beneath the doorway
Mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill
Remove the steps from the bracket and set aside
Attach the mounting bracket to the camper
-Secure in place with included lag screws
Attach the stairs to the mounting bracket and extend
GlowStep Accessories
Add any of these accessories to your Stow N' Go steps for stability, eliminating gaps, and keeps your steps and RV interior clean. The GlowGuide handrail (TLA7621 - sold separately) attaches to the outside of your RV and a bracket on the bottom of the steps. This helps to steady the assembly and adds 25 lbs to the weight capacity of the stairs. The SafeStep vinyl barrier (TLA7602 - sold separately) easily fastens with Velcro strips in between any 2 steps. This prevents your or your pets from accidentally slipping between steps. The DirtDestroyer boot brush (Tla7603 - sold separately) affixes to the bottom of the steps so you can scrape your shoes before climbing into your RV.

We mounted a receiver hitch cargo carrier on an extended receiver tube and I mounted the steps on the rear of the cargo carrier. These steps are stable and performed very well on several trips including a four month 18K mile trip to Alaska. I did have to alter the mounting so they stow almost flipped over backwards to maintain clearance on inclines but that has nothing to do with the steps: only our particular use. Just installed these on my new Four Wheel camper. Had to add a 2 1/2" x3" block to accommodate the lower bolts. The steps feel very sturdy and look like they may have decent traction in icy conditions. I like that they can be collapsed and removed to store inside for driving on bumpy rough roads. I haven't been camping with these yet but i'm sure they will be safer and more stable than the foldable 2 step flimsy ladder we have been using.1296366

This worked out even better than I had hoped. We have a backyard storm shelter. They come with a steep set of stairs. Our 100 pound dog couldn't use the ladder and it is impossible to carry an unwilling dog into the shelter. Voila - these stairs are the perfect solution. Leave them steep for us then open them out for the dogs. Even the big one just walks down. Even better for us while we are in the shelter we can close the steps and have more floor space.1279447

Thanks for following up. We ordered this from you not having any previous experience with your company or products. I can say honestly we are very happy with both!
I must confess, however, these steps are not for an RV. We have an office that has a window designated for "emergency egress." Office occupants could not safely and easily access the window without steps. Moreover, to conserve space, the steps needed to be able to retract out of the way. Solution: your retractable RV steps! They are sturdy, the height is perfect and they fold out of the way-check, check, check.

I'm pleased with the quality of the 5 step Stow N' Go Scissor Steps. I had to manufacture a bracket to mount the steps to my Arctic Fox camper bumper as the steps would not mount directly. Once that was done, the steps have been solid and safe. I'm glad I ordered the 5 step as sometimes that extra step is needed. All in all, quite pleased with the quality of the product.1275236

Received a package with the ladder and the handrail in good shape. The only problem is that the parts package for the ladder was open and the parts are spelled out I think I found them all. How was not using this for a RV as it was designed. How was using it as a egress ladder all my boat from the main deck to the flybridge. Good quality, heavy duty construction. Unfortunately the shipping packaging wasn't sufficient. Luckily it wasn't damaged too much but the hardware bag ripped and I the entire bag of bolts and screws where all over the box and some of the contents fell out of the box. I had bolt at home that worked but this would be a problem for others. Simply packaging this better would have made this a five star product.1252137

The only caveat is that I had to alter (from the included instructions) the method of attaching the mounting bracket to my camper's bumper. The three step ladder was just to dangerous and it was not a matter of if, but when, one of us was going to fall. I’ve never been disappointed with a Tork Lift product, I have their Camper tie down kit AND the Stable Loads on this truck, so putting the Glow Steps on was a no brainer. etrailer had the best price, free shipping and the order process was simple. Arrived a day earlier than I expected!
Easy install, solid set of steps, completely changed the access dynamic of our truck camper. I’d buy again.

No the TorkLift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear part # TLA7843 needs to be mounted to a vertical surface. The one way around this would be to have bracket fabricated at a local shop to change your mounting position to a vertical one.

I may have different installation method for you, but there is not an extended bracket made to push the TorkLift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear # TLA7843 away from your camper to clear your bumper. It may be possible to have a local fabrication shop make a custom bracket for your application.

I have a solution for you, but the TorkLift # TLA7843 require much more mounting space than you've got available on your 2020 Palomino SS1240. Because of the limited mounting space under your door, you'll need to use something similar to the TorkLift GlowStep Camper Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear - 4 Steps - 20" Wide # TLA7804-8000, which has a very narrow mounting bracket that is 1" tall x 20" long and will work well in the limited space you've got on your Palomino SS1240 camper.

While we do not have a video of these steps being specifically installed on your camper I took a look at the instruction manual, which is also linked, and there is a method for installing these steps on a camper that does not have a bumper. You would need to remove your current bracket and it would require a 19.5" x 3.5" mounting area below the door.
