Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima Lock Cores. These are going to be made for your roof rack to be able to lock into your roof. When you buy them from the factory, they're just going to come with plastic lock cores, and it's not going to secure it to your roof while you're not with it. For the example, with our SkyLine Towers, they're very, very easily removable. Just pull back and lift up and your bars are going to be gone.
So by replacing these plastic lock cores with the locking cores, you're not going to have to worry about anyone stealing or tampering with your roof rack. In your kit, you're going to get two keys that are keyed to unlock and lock all of your lock cores, and you're going to get one installation key. This is the key dish we're going to use to push the lock cores into place.To start with, we need to take our flat key and pop our plastic lock cores out. And to get our lock cores into place, we just need to take it, you're going to line it up with this hole. So right here is where you're going to see that little indentation that you're going to stick your lock core into place, where that little knob is going to stick down inside there.
Just push it into place.Now we can take the tip of our finger and hold our lock core and pull our control key out. And we can take one of our two keys that has our notches in it and lock up our bars. And you'll repeat this process for all four of your foot packs. Now, as I said, your kit is going to come with two keys. If you we're to lose them, there are replacement keys available.
On the back there's going to be a letter followed by three numbers. It's a good idea when you first get your kit to write that series of numbers down, so that you know which key is yours, and you can order them here at etrailer.Now, one little helpful piece of advice I'd like to provide you all with is, if you plan on leaving your rack on your vehicle during the winter time or whatever you might be putting your lock cores in, it's a good idea that when winter time is approaching, you spray a little bit of lubricant on the inside of your lock, not only to help your lock work properly, but it's going to prevent any water from building up inside, potentially turning into ice. I had a situation one time where I needed to get into my toolbox for a side job and I couldn't get in because water had gotten into my lock and froze solid, and I couldn't get my key in. But with all that being said, that's going to do it for our look and installation of the Yakima Lock Cores..

These lock cores worked perfectly for my Yakima kayak rack. I can use the same key for all the locks and I feel much more secure knowing that someone can't steal my expensive rooftop car rack. So, 5 stars!
Just wanted to say the 4 locks fit and work perfectly. I also ordered a cover plate for the base tower of my Yakima rack, again perfect fit and the new locks will prevent any from popping off in the future. The shipping was fast and free. Easy installation
Disregard paint job Yakima rack and all the accesories looks amazing feels amazing. Love how it's Completes my work vehicle. Will be put into work carrying ladders and anything else I can strap up there. Definitely recommend to anyone needing to carry ladders for work.

The YAKIMA SKS LockCores are of course just part of a bigger rack system I have been putting together on my 2016 Chevy Colorado. The SKS Locks Cores will secure my other Yakima Accessories. The design of the connection seems a little sketchy to me. Hopefully I'm wrong and the design engineers have it figured out. etrailer's selection process, delivery ann installation help both online and on the phone was excellent
I purchased these locks along with a Yakima Q Tower Round Bar Roof Rack system for transporting kayaks. I have had no issues with any of the equipment. T locking system is easy to install and secure. I would and have recommended this equipment and etrailer to my friends.
The product was just as advertised and the shipping was very prompt. The installation was even easier than the CD made it look. In less than 10 minutes the rack was unboxed, assembled and installed including the lock sets. I have found the folks at etrailer.com to be very efficient and easy to work with in all the products I have ordered from them.

After a year the locks are still working great, I unlock and lock about once a month without a problem.
Just what I needed to help keep my roof rack investment secure.
Haven't used the product yet, but the customer service and support is awesome!
Exactly what I needed after my Yakima Bike Rack key was stolen. A locksmith popped out the lock core and we put in the new one. Works perfectly.
Terrific! No one tried to steal my roof rack once they caught a glimpse of these babies!
Yakima SKS Lock Core set is a must-have. The Lock Cores install quite easily when following the instruction manual, and the locks work as designed - the Yakima SkyLine Towers I installed them into cannot be opened when locked. In fact there is no discernible play whatsoever when attempting to open the locked towers. Very good design and execution.
Glad I ordered these locks. Heard many stories about racks getting stolen without them. Great piece of mind to have.
I received the Rain gutter riser, 66' round bars, boat loader and SKS lock cores all well packaged and in good shape. These are for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon. The products were easy to install and will work great for loading and transporting my Hobie Outfitter Kayak. The Outfitter is a heavy kayak at 75 lbs unloaded. The Yakama Boat loader makes it easy for one person to load and unload the kayak. The rain gutter mounts and round bars securely hold the kayak for transportation. When not transporting the kayak the whole system quickly removes.
A big plus with ordering through etrailer is the excellent custom service, they will be my go to for future orders.

the yakima jetstream crossbars with baseline towers were a bit more complicated to assemble and install than the brand i returned, but the wind noise and whistling are dramatically less ...

I though I would love the core bar set up on my truck but I have really grown to love them! Weather it’s bikes, kayaks or a ladder it works great! And even better it looks great! Quieter than Thule square bars and Yakima round bars by far. I would not only buy again but one of the bars was damaged in shipment and etrailer took care of it by sending a new one to replace it right away. Will be buying from them again! Good customer service!!!!
The locks are totally necessary to keep the rack secure from theft. Should be included with the basket , but it is what it is. The all system kind of expensive in my opinion but good quality

Still like day one..new . Not cheap but well built. For small packages or persons like me who dosent like cover the all roof this is the solution. No complains at all at this time. Good purchase, good choice.
We purchased the Yakima Skyline Towers roof rack with the Jet Stream crossbars. Took about 2 hours to install on the naked roof of our Flex. I drilled through the roof strip for the mounting bolts and they fit tighter than the factory rails. Very happy with our choice.
