I have always gone to etrailer to order all needed if my new vehicle did not come OEM with the necessary items for towing. Ordered and was delivered in a timely manner. Installation was easy as always. Lowered the spare tire on my 2022 Honda Pilot, and with a second set of hands, took less than 20 minutes to install and torque down. Installing the wiring was as easy. I found it unnecessary to remove certain interior panels to gain access to connect the harness. What took the longest, was getting the gormet to sit properly. If not for my 2 year old jumping on me, would have been quicker. Thanks etrailer

Product was easy to install within an hour (includes time to remove/reinstall the spare tire on 2016 Honda Pilot)! I recommend having someone help you lift it into place while installing the included bolts and washers. Box had a couple of holes and paint was rubbed off the lip of the hitch. The shipper should add extra cardboard padding or a heavier gauge box to reduce chance of damage to hitch.

2019 Acura MDX
The hitch is a great quality piece but the packaging job was terrible. The hitch broke completely loose inside the box and rails that bolt up to the vehicle had broken out of the box. The hitch is powder coated and the powder coating on the edge of the rails was heavily worn from being exposed outside the box. I am very disappointed in the care taken to package this hitch. I doubt I will purchase from etrailer.com again in the future.

Awesome custom trailer hitch. The holes aligned with the vehicle frame - just like they were supposed to. I used this to carry/attach a trailer-cargo-basket. I drove close to 4,000 miles in a week (from Texas to Florida and back). This hitch was secure, did not rattle, and works just like it is intended to. I decided to leave the hitch on the vehicle. Very inconspicuous.

2017 Honda Pilot
Communication throughout the ordering/shipping process is great. Shipping was fast-ish so that was nice. The box the hitch was in was completely destroyed and the hitch was scuffed/scratched through the powder coating so we will see how long before rust sets in. Installation took less than an hour and was not difficult. The hitch is fairly heavy so it’s a 2 person install job. After installing the hitch and raising the spare tire back up, the spare tire does not return to its factory installs location flush under the Pilot. I shifted the spare tire back while raising it so it was against the hitch. The forward side of the tire now rests on the sway bar so the tire is an inch or so lower on the forward side. We shall see if that becomes an issue. I will update my review is issues arise.
Hitch itself seems to be solid and built well. Overall I’m somewhat satisfied but thing could be much better with packaging prior to shipping to prevent receiving a damaged part. And disclaimers about the re-install of the spare. My

It was a little difficult for me to balance the receiver as a “one man” show. But, with a couple small jack stands, I had success. Well built hitch receiver with a tough finish. Delivered in only four days??.

2018 Honda Pilot
Hitch arrived very quickly. The only problem was it appeared that the tongue ripped through the box, and in the process the powder coating chipped off around the opening. It's gotta be difficult to package something this heavy and unwieldy. Perhaps a bit more padding around the tongue could do the trick. The other thing I noticed was some irregularity in the metal, looks almost like it could be surface rust under the finish. Again, not a big deal. Overall I'm very happy with the hitch and, with the help of a friend, installation went pretty quick. We had a hard time trying to get the bolts torqued to XXX, we had to settle for a lower torque.

I will share this review with our shipping department and I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I recommend touching the imperfections up with a rust resistant paint such as Rustoleum if you have not done so already.

1 star is generous. Received item damaged, paint chipped and scuffed off. Response from customer service is “we will credit you $15, go buy paint”. Don’t waste your time with etrailer, go to a local dealer.

We could always replace it for you, but it would cost more in shipping than it would be worth. This is why we generally offer a paint credit so that you can fix it and not have to wait for the reship. We definitely recommend covering any scratches with a Rust-Oleum type of paint.

2016 Honda Pilot
Heavy duty quality hitch. Installed on my 2016 Honda Pilot. Simple to install. Fit like a glove. Love the flat black powder coat finish and how well it is tucked up out of the way. My wife and I plan on attaching a bike rack to haul our new e-bikes.

2020 Acura MDX
Hitch install took some time in garage alone but got it done with 1 floor jack and 1 scissor jack. Needed to slowly maneuver between exhaust hangers which were in way, did not have to remove them. Cleaned out weld nuts beforehand w/ wd-40. Matte black looks good overall! See pics of 2020 A-Spec MDX SHAWD.

2017 Honda Pilot
Unit arrived early. Thanks eTrailer and UPS! I am a hard ridden 74 year old disabled vet, so it took me about an hour to install this unit on my back in the driveway with ramps. Did not use compressed air tools or a lift.For a 16 year old, it would be 30 minutes maximum. The unit is heavy duty and will do the job for sure. Clean the dirty threads on the vehicles screw holes. I used a brass 9mm gun bore brush. Spray the threads on the new bolts with a good lube. Easy job as the machine holes on the tow unit are spot on. Six bolts and done! I will let you know how the wiring harness works out when I get around to putting it on. Nap time now!

2019 Acura MDX
This hitch is heavy duty and fits the 2019 Acura MDX perfectly. I'm 70 and it was to heavy for one person to put on so I took it over my buddy's shop to have him install it. He opens at 8:00 am and I was out by 8:20. Gave him 40$ for the guys in the shop to have lunch. Make sure you also purchase the wiring harness for the Acura, about 40$, but took me 10 mins. to install. Plug and play, no brainer purchase.
The customer service rep's at etrailer were fantastic.

2020 Honda Pilot
Very sturdy and easy to install. Received the hitch on Tuesday and was able install it that night with my 16 year old son in the driveway in about 20 minutes. We left out of town on Wednesday and were able to take our two bikes with us! No problems at all during the trip and checked the bolts afterwards— no issues.

We received the wiring, ball mount, and hitch receiver after a short wait. Unfortunately, the hitch receiver was clearly used due to the cosmetic damage. Beyond the cosmetic damage, the hitch receiver didn't contain any of the bolts to attach it.
At this point, I will need to delay our vacation (main reason for the hitch), haul the receiver back to UPS, and wait the standard shipping duration.
Strongly recommend looking for a hitch receiver elsewhere if this is the quality assurance and service you can expect.

2019 Honda Pilot
The hitch arrived pretty soon after ordering. It was not damaged and the box it came in was intact. I was worried about this bc of some other reviews but I guess that’s more having to do with the mail carriers and less with how the hitch is packaged. Attaching it to our 2019 Honda Pilot was super easy. I didn’t end up having to lift my car. I was able to install it by myself with the help of a Jack stand. Would highly recommend cleaning and removing any rust in the car’s receiving bolt holes - mine were quite dirty. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

The hitch has come in handy more times than we anticipated this year. The coating on it is still intact even after multiple long road trips. We mainly use it to attach our cargo carrier. It has been more than enough for that.

Held up great, as well as any OEM I have had. Got rear ended with a cargo carrier on the hitch and the carrier got destroyed but the hitch was 100% unaffected. Easy to install, can't see any reason to not use this.

2017 Honda Pilot
The actual hitch was very impressive, very heavy and strong. Loved it!!! However I was unable to attach this to my 2017 Honda Pilot. The bolts were not going on. Unfortunately I had to take this hitch in to the dealership. The bolts that came with the hitch were too fat. Luckily the dealership had the correct bolts. Thank goodness as we were leaving for vacation the next day.

Can be mounted by one person but you could also get bashed in the head. Better to have 2 sets of hands to get it started. I did remove the spare tire to have access. Otherwise easy install. Needed a raised hitch as it does sit low. So follow the measurement guides on this site for getting the right drop/rise hitch after install.

Overall, this is a great trailer hitch. Well built, strong welds, and decent finish. This is the first hitch I've ever installed and with the correct socket wrench set, I had it installed in under 15 minutes. The holes lined up, as they should and the bolts included were the right diameter and thread. I ran into only one issue, which I've reflected in the overall review- all of the bolts sent were the same length (long). I found that the front bolts were too long and needed to be cut down by about a 1/2 inch in order to properly secure the hitch to the chassis. Not a big deal when you have the right tools to do this, but if you have no idea what you are doing, you'll need to be prepared for this possibility.

The hitch is high quality and well built. It surprised me how robust it was for its welds and weight. Installation was reasonably easy except for the exhaust brackets that made it more difficult to align. It would have been easier if they had been more outboard of the frame rails. Overall not too bad.

- Will a Trailer Hitch on a 2019 Honda Pilot Block the Hands Free Liftgate I cannot speak specifically to the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver part # E98840 or your 2019 Honda Pilot which this hitch is a fit for but I can say that most of the time, the trailer hitch will work just fine with the hands free liftgate sensor but you need to place your foot of either side of the receiver tube opening in order to activate it. It almost never completely interferes with this feature. I have attached a sample install video for you as well.

I have used the trailer hitch a handful of times. Each time it is used - I only have the purpose of attaching additional carrying space trailercargo basket. The trailer hitch fit like a glove cliche on my 2017 Honda Pilot. Simple and straight forward - bolt on. NO DRILLING was required. The hitch looks nice - almost like it belongs. It does NOT stick out like a sore thumb. Very pleasant aesthetic.
