Do Fifth Wheel Hitches Have a Shelf Life

I have a reese16k that is 13 yrs. old and was wondering how long they last?

As long as the hitch was properly maintained and is still in good working condition your hitch would still be fine to use.

There really isn't a shelf life for a hitch. There are many factors that can wear out a hitch faster like overloading or exposure to salt, but if your hitch is still working fine I would recommend you keep using it.

If you find that it has more play than usual in the moving parts, makes more noise while towing, starts showing excessive wear in metal parts, or it gets difficult to couple and uncouple then it would be a good time to replace the hitch.
