How to Install Thule # TH987XT on Subaru Forester w/ Factory Crossbars
Question:
I purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester with factory roof rack and crossbars. I purchased the Thule Hullavator 897xt because the company I purchased it from claimed it would fit my vehicle with no additional parts other than what came included in the box. After receiving it and following installation instructions, I am thoroughly lost. I was able to follow all steps up until actually installing the unit on the factory cross bars. They are aero shaped but do not fit. What am I missing, What else do I need to purchase to make this work? I have already spent major $$ on the unit. Not sure I want to invest much more. Please help.

According to the instructions for the Thule # TH897XT Hullavator, the kayak carrier is compatible with Thule square crossbars, Yakima round crossbars or Thule AeroBlade and WingBar crossbars that have the channel running across the top. It won't be compatible with the factory crossbars on your Forester, I'm sorry to say.
However, I do have a solution for you. I've confirmed with Thule that you can install their SquareBar roof rack, which would consist of the following parts:
47 inch SquareBars, part # TH712200
Evo raised rail feet, part # TH710401
Once the crossbars are installed, you'll be able to install your Hullavator with no problem.
