Is Draw-Tite Class I # 24755 for an Acura TL Capably of Carrying A Mountain Bike on a Bike Rack

I want a hitch so I dont need to buy a trunk mounted bicycle rack. Is the hitch stable enough to handle a mountain bike? Thanks

Expert Reply:

The Draw-Tite Class I hitch you referred to, part # 24755 has a 200 lb tongue weight capacity. This means that no more than 200 lbs can be safely suspended from the hitch, therefore the weight of your bikes and the bike rack you use can't exceed that weight limit.

The Thule Camber, part # TH9058 is an excellent choice. The rack can carry two bikes up to 35 lbs each, and tilts away from the vehicle to help allow access to the rear cargo area. An available hitch pin lock is available as part # THSTL2. The rack also features anti-sway cradles that will prevent your bikes from swaying back and forth during transport. The weight of the rack and the bikes would come in well under the 200 lb limit of the hitch.

I've linked you to an install video for the hitch and a product demonstration video for the bike rack.
