Question:
The one reviewer stated his 2015 Transit had blank weld nuts. He had to tap the blanks to install his hitch. Didnt say in the review if he used a traditional tap or self tapping bolts. I also have blank weld nuts i.e. No threads. In one of the answered questions the requestor was assured that the product does indeed come with Self Tapping Bolts, which is great. However, the installation instruction photos seem to show preexisting threaded weld nuts that are being cleaned by a wire brush prior to tapping with the bolts. So the real question is this: will I have to tap the threadless blanks with a traditional tap prior to using the self tapping boltsinch that come with the hitch reciever or will the self tapping bolts suffice? Thanks.

I've spoken with my representative in the tech services department at Curt Manufacturing. He assures me that the M12 - 1.75 x 30 bolts included with the installation hardware are indeed self-tapping. It's recommended that the blanks be cleaned using the wire brush before and after using the bolt to tap the threads, which is why it's shown in the install photos.
