How to Run Hopkins 4-Pole Extension # HM47115 to Exterior of Vehicle and Hitch Mounting Bracket

The answer given to this question was very helpful. The most important outstanding question I have is how to run the extension from the interior of the rear compartment to the exterior and the bracket mounted on the hitch. I have a 2005 XC90 V8. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Usually within the rear cargo area of a vehicle there will be access holes, sometimes filled with a rubber grommet, through which you can route wiring. Since the size of the 4-pole plug # HM47115 may be too large for some of these holes it may be necessary to widen the opening. Take a look under the rear cargo area carpet and trim panels for any such available openings. If you find that you need to enlarge (or create) a hole for the 4-pole be sure to check behind that area to ensure no other wiring or other components are behind the area where you intend to drill. There may also be a route down to the rear bumper/hitch area from behind the driver's-side taillight assembly.
