Expert Reply:

The WesBarg 7-Way RV-Style Connector # WG54006-046 uses several gauges of wire depending on their function.

Black and white wires, which provide 12V power and ground respectively, are 10-gauge. The blue wire, typically for a trailer brake circuit, is 12-gauge. All other wires for the lighting functions are 14-gauge. These lighting wires are lighter gauge because they will need to handle less power.

Installation of a harness like this on your trailer will be easier with a junction box like # 38656 and with a wiring kit such as Hopkins # HM51020 which includes connectors and a crimping tool.
