Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Carrier for 4 Bikes on a 2008 Honda Odyssey

Question:

Hello, First, awesome site, full of great info and advice in addition to great prices! So glad a friend turned me on to etrailer.com, you guys beat the competition hands down! Question: I am looking at getting this model Y02458 for my 2008 Odyssey with a 2inch hitch. I have 4 bikes which will probably total close but not over to the weight limit for this rack 150lbs and I just want to be sure that is this rack is really good for that weight limit. The convenient click and lock feature of raising the rack bars looks great but obviously the mechanics behind it need to be rock solid or the bikes fall. In your opinion, is that mechanism very strong and something I dont need to worry about? thank you for your time!

The 150 pound weight capacity of the Yakima RidgeBack, # Y02458, is accurate and mechanism can support that without any issues. It was designed with not only the weight of the bikes in mind but also the additional stress related to a moving vehicle (bumps in the road for example). This is true for all bike racks that fit in trailer hitches.

An adapter is needed for any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
