What are the Functions of a 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector with 6 Wires  

Question:

coming form my boat trailer, I have a blue,green,yellow,brown/yellow and a brown/green wires .From my five pin. I have a white,yellow,brown,blue,and green.i know the white is the ground so where does the extra brown wire from the boat go?

It sounds like you have what is called a wishbone harness like # A40W5B as an example. This type of harness will have 2 wires that share the running light circuit. This is so you can use two wires, one for each side of the trailer, for running light functions so you don't have to run a jumper wire from one side of the trailer to the other.

The brown/yellow would be the left side and the brown/green would be the right side. Usually the green only is right turn signal/brake lights, yellow is left turn signal/brake lights, and blue is for a reverse electric lockout. And then white is typically ground.
