What is the Towing Capacity of a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with 5.3 Liter Motor

Question:

I have a GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with a 5.3L gas engine. I am looking to purchase a travel trailer and trying to figure out how much weight my truck can pull. I read towing guides online, but I am still a little confused. I realize there are alot of factors, but can you give me a general idea what size trailer weight? my truck is rated to pull safely? I have done some upgrades by installing a larger transmission oil cooler and Timbren supports for the rear axle.

For a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with the 5.3 liter the towing capacity will be one of the following depending on how your truck is configured:

Regular Cab, Long Bed
3.73 rear end, 8,000
4.10 rear end, 9,000

Crew Cab, Long Bed
3.73 rear end, 7,500 pounds
4.10 rear end, 8,500 pounds

Extended Cab, Long Bed
3.73 rear end, 7,600 pounds
4.10 rear end, 8,600 pounds

Regular Cab, Short Bed
3.73 rear end, 8,200 pounds
4.10 rear end, 9,200 pounds

Extended Cab, Short Bed
3.73 rear end, 7,800 pounds
4.10 rear end, 8,800 pounds

Extended Cab, Short Bed with 4-wheel steering
3.73 rear end, 7,400 pounds
4.10 rear end, 8,400 pounds

Look for the capacity and loading sticker, usually in the driver's side door jamb for the specific capacity for your truck.
