Is a Sidewinder replacement Pin Box the Same Length as a Factory Pin Box

Question:

Hi Im Cesar my question is, that my pin box lippert 1621 as it is to me measures 22inch from pivot point to center of king pin, it is the extended one, is there any difference in length compaired to the sidewinder RP34FR. I have a tundra 2008 w/5-1/2 short bed box. so my question is if I still need to replace pin box for a sidewinder even do is the extended pin box. thanks

A regular 5th wheel trailer pin box pivots at the king pin. A Sidewinder locks out that pivot point and moves it back 22 inches. The overall length of the Sidewinder and stock pin box may not be different but where the trailer actually pivots is the big difference.

An extended pin box will not offer nearly the same amount of clearance as a Sidewinder so you would use a fixed 5th wheel trailer hitch and a Sidewinder.
