Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Question:

I have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. I think the hitch I need is 87625 Hidden Hitch Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver. I am looking for a simple wiring harness to connect my trailer lights. Can you help me find the right one? Thanks

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame, part # 76031 (which replaced the Hidden Hitch 87625) is a great fit for your 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. This is a Class lV hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening.

Since you plan on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

For the trailer wiring, if you have the factory tow package on your Pathfinder I recommend the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # HM40975. This plugs into the connector located by the back bumper as shown in the attached installation video.

If you do not have a factory tow package, you will need to do some hardwiring for a trailer connector. Since your Pathfinder has a separate wiring system you will need to install a harness with a converter like part # 119178KIT. This includes the harness and a circuit tester to identify the wires needed when installing the harness. This will give you a 4-way connector at the rear of your Pathfinder.

If your trailer has brakes and requires a 7-way connector, you will need part # ETBC7. This will connect to the 4-way connector and with some additional wiring will give you a 7-way connector at the rear of your vehicle.

If the trailer has brakes I recommend part # 90885 for a brake controller. This is our most popular controller because it is easy to install and operate.

I have attached links to some product review videos and helpful articles you can take a look at.
