Is the Outlet Diameter Measurement Listed for Magnaflow Mufflers Or is it the Inner Diameter
Question:
Is the inlet and outlet diameter of 2.5 inches an inside diameter or an outside diameter? I have a 2.5 inch O.D. exhaust pipe I want to slide into the muffler.

The inlet/outlet/tubing diameters listed from Magnaflow are OD, outer diameter, not ID, inner diameter. If your tubing is 2.5 OD you will have to butt-weld the muffler to the exhaust tubing, the exhaust pipe will not slide into the muffler. Any muffler shop can do this.
The MagnaFlow muffler, part # MF10416 is not designed to be a slip fit muffler. Your exhaust tubing would need to be designed for slip fit mufflers and have band clamps to apply sufficient pressure to seal the system. This muffler is designed to be welded in.
You can do a lap-joint weld where the muffler slips into the exhaust tubing and then you weld around the tube to secure and seal the muffler.
I attached a video of a Magnaflow muffler being installed onto a vehicle for you to check out also.
