Brake Lights Only Not Working On Trailer Towed by a 2002 Honda CR-V
Question:
I have a 2002 Honda CRV. I bought the vehicle new and had the dealer install the hitch and wiring flat 4 prong. I just replaced my trailer connector and find the brake lights dont work but both the turn signals and all the running lights on the trailer and car work. Just no trailer brake lights, car break lights are fine. All lights work except the trailer brakes. I have voltage at the four pin connector for the trailer lights brown and each of the turn signals yellow and green but no voltage on yellow or green with brake pedal depressed. Help?

It could be just a blown tow package fuse. Use the vehicle owners manual to find the locations of the fuses related to the tow package wiring to check them. If fuses are not the problem then I recommend taking the vehicle to a Honda Dealer to troubleshoot the problem since it is a Honda wiring harness. It could be that something shorted out in the converter and if that is the case the whole harness would have to be replaced.
