Trailer Wiring Harness and Bracket for a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Question:

Hi, I recently purchased a Curt Class V, 2700 lbs tongue capacity for a 2001 GMC 2500HD 6.5ft bed extended cab truck. I have not installed it yet. I have not unpacked the hitch yet, but I believe there is no electrical connector bracket. Can you recommend a truck side electrical connector bracket for this application? And a replacement truck side electrical connector? This is be used for a marine boat trailer. Thanks

If your 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD came with a factory installed 7-Way originally then you can use 7- and 4-Way connector # 30955 which comes with a mounting bracket. It doesn't fit directly in the same place as the factory connector but it does plug into the factory harness under the truck. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.

If your truck has the factory spot in the bumper for a connector and the factory tow package then you can use # PK11916. I have linked a video showing how this connector installs as well.

If your truck did not come with a factory trailer connector then to add one you can start with a 4-Way, # 119147KIT. Then to add a 7-Way and retain the 4-Way you can use # ETBC7. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
