How to Determine if a Rear Door Could be Opened with Curt Cargo Carrier C18110 Installed

I have a 1 1/4 hitch just below the main bumber on a lifted 98 tj wrangler i know this will fit the hitch but my question is if i can still open my tailgate without having to remove the basket which woundnt be practical due to threaded stabalizer pin, and basket weight.

The Curt Cargo Carrier part # C18110 has a rise of 3-3/4 inches built into the shank and the sides of the carrier are 2-3/4 inches. That means that if the bottom of your rear door is more than 6-1/2 inches above the top of your hitch opening then your rear door would open without interfering with the carrier.

So you would need to run out to your vehicle and measure from the top of the hitch opening to the bottom of the door. If it's more than 6-1/2 inches you would be good to go.
