Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer Transporting a 15 foot Canoe Lighting Option for Load

When transporting my 15 foot canoe, the canoe will extend more than 4 feet beyond the trailer. Under Michigan Law and probably other states as well, require the end of the canoe to be flagged during the day and lite during evening hours. Is there a wiring harness that can be used for this situation that is mounting something on the end of the canoe? How can I settle this problem? thanks

The Yakima Rack and Roll part # Y08106 has standard trailer wiring, so to wire up a light for after dark use that you could mount the trailer would require you to tap into the running light circuit of the trailer.

We don't have a great way that I could recommend you mount the light, but you could use a clearance light like the part # MC32RB as it is a small, red clearance light that would work well. This light would need to be grounded and ran to the running light circuit so that it activates when the running lights are on.

Or for a simpler option you could go with a battery operated light like the part # HF18R-MB. This light uses a magnetic base to attach, but you could attach it in other ways if you got creative.
