Should there be 1 Inch of Play After Installing the Curt X5 Adapter
Question:
How much play should be in this adapter once it is dropped in and the locking pin is set? With my fifth wheel hitch all set up there is 1inch at least of play in this set up. Is that normal?

First, make sure that when using the Curt X5 adapter, # C16220, that you are putting it into a compatible Curt Gooseneck trailer hitch (Curt EZr double-lock gooseneck hitches). It is not designed to be used with any other hitch.
If the locking pins are positioned properly and you get an inch of vertical movement then something is wrong and you would not want to use the adapter until the problem is fixed. One inch is way too much movement. The X5 adapter should only move vertically about as much as if you had a regular gooseneck ball in the hitch, which basically none.
Since the hole is round for the compatible gooseneck hitches it is possible that the X5 is slightly off square and will need to be turned one way or the other to seat properly.
