To flat tow a 2000 Ford F-150 with a tow bar like the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, # 63180, you will first need a base plate kit. If you have 4-wheel drive, use base plate kit # 456-15 (will not work with a diesel). If you have 2-wheel drive, use base plate kit # 492-1 (will not work with Lightning models). You would then need to add Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, # RM-025, to be able to use the Tow Ready tow bar # 63180. Keep in mind that this tow bar is rated for speeds of 45 miles per hour or less.

Next, you will need safety cables as required by law. I recommend the RoadMaster 68 inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643. You will also need a lighting kit. For a temporary lighting solution, use the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, # RM-2120. These are magnetic and plug into a 4-Way on the tow vehicle.
