Are Under-Bed or Above-Bed Fifth Wheel Hitch Install Rails Better

What is a better type of mount for a fifth wheel, in bed or under bed mount?

Good question!

There's a few reasons why somebody might prefer the under-bed mounted hitch. If you use your truck bed a lot, for carrying gravel or mulch, for instance, the above bed rails would make shoveling or raking out the bed more difficult. Some folks simply don't care for the appearance of the rails in the bed when the hitch is removed.

If you don't haul material in your truck bed, and aren't persnickety about the appearance of bed rails, by all means, go with the above bed rails. If you prefer the clean look of the underbed rails, or if you haul dirt, rock or mulch in your truck bed, the underbed mount would be better for you.

If you'd care to reply with the year, make, model and bed length of your truck, as well as the weight of the fifth wheel, I'd be happy to make some suggestions for you.
