Question:
I just purchased a 2006 Keystone Cougar 290EFS. Its our first 5th Wheel trailer as we are switching from an old terry bumper pull. I have a 2008 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab truck and am trying to decide what is my best option for a hitch. I really dont like the idea of a 5th wheel hitch in the bed of my truck though but since I have a shortbed Im not sure a gooseneck is an option. Can you help me to decide what hitch would be my best option for my trailer/truck combo? Thanks.

Since you have a short bed truck you will have to use a fifth wheel hitch setup since otherwise you wouldn't have the clearance to make tight turns.
Since you don't really like the idea of a fifth wheel hitch or rails left in the bed of your truck at all times your best option would be a underbed rail kit like the B and W Companion kit part # BWGNRK1308-5W and then the Companion Slider hitch part # BWRVK3400-5W that would fit the rail kit.
When not in use you could remove the hitch (although it is heavy), and be able to have complete access to the bed of your truck.
For a fifth wheel trailer wiring harness you would want the part # C56071.
