Load Assist for Canoe Onto 2012 Subaru Outback
Question:
We already have a factory roof rack but would like a device that can help lift and load the canoe from the rear - if necessary we can have a trailer hitch installed. What can Yakima offer? your side loader would not work on our factory roof rack. Thanks.

Yakima offers the LongArm, part # Y01149-1150. It's a load extender that fits into a trailer hitch receiver. It can be used at the level of a truck bed or the roof.
If your factory bars are not round or square, you can use foam pads like the Malone Canoe Carrier # MPG156 to protect your crossbars and help keep your canoe secure. These pads fit naked roofs, round crossbars, square crossbars, aero or elliptical crossbars, and most factory crossbars. This part number comes with a tie-down strap to secure your canoe.
If you need tie-down straps to secure your canoe, you can use straps like # Y05006. For bow and stern tie-downs, you can use the Yakima Bow and Stern Tie-Down Ropes with Ratchets # Y04031.
