Question:
my installer had a problem reinstalling the heatshield properly.after cking your installation instructions,i notice there is no info on reinstalling the heatshield.any suggestions?

I spoke with my representative in the Tech Services department at Curt Manufacturing. According to Curt, the heat shield that's removed in step 2 is NOT reinstalled. Once the hitch is in place, there is no longer room for the heat shield, and the hitch actually does a much better job as a heat shield than the thin piece of metal would. If there's a possibility you might remove the hitch later to sell or trade in the vehicle, you can keep the heat shield for later reinstallation. Otherwise, you can discard it.
