Tow Package Fuse Locations on a 2006 Chevy Silverado

I hooked my trailer lights up and the lights on trailer blew like it was a fuse. I need to know how to get to the fuse for the trailer wiring harness. It says it is located under the instrument panel on the left side of the steering column. I have checked all of the other fuses and they are all good.

From what I was able to find there are several fuses associated with the tow package wiring on a 2006 Chevy Silverado. In the instrument panel on the side of the dash you should see RT TRLR ST/TRN for trailer right turn and brake signal and LT TRLR ST/TRN for trailer left turn and brake lights.

In the center panel in the truck cab there is only one fuse and it is for brake controller power.

Under the hood there is a fuse that goes with stud # 2 for accessory power/trailer brakes, one labeled TRL PARK for trailer parking lamps, and one labeled TRL B/U for trailer reverse lights.

Before replacing fuses and plugging the trailer back in be sure to find and eliminate the cause of the short or else it will just keep blowing fuses. Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside where the wires attach and outside on the pins.

Inspect the tow package wiring under the truck (as much as you can) as well as the wiring on the trailer and fix any damaged or pinched wires.
