Kayak Carrier Recommendation For 2011 Sierra With Extended Cab And Hard Tonneau Cover

Question:

I need a carrier for a 12 ft. to 14 ft. kayak that fits my 2011 extended cab GMC Sierra with a BAKFLIP hard tonneau. Reading your posts, I think the Darby extend a cab might work for me??

If you have a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver opening, the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier, part # DTA944-968-924 would work great for you. This carrier has a 350-lb weight capacity but you want to check your owner's manual to make sure you do not exceed he roof weight capacity of your truck.

This carrier comes with one foam block for the crossbar on the carrier and an additional block, you could get a Malone foam block part # MPG172 can be purchased for the roof crossbar.

Tie-down straps are not included for the kayak so I recommend a tie-down kit like part # 753-2030-02. for bow and stern tie-downs I recommend part # TH855XT.
