Question:
what would you recommend in a fifth wheel hitch for a 2006 Dodge Mega cab 4x4 2500 Diesel. I am looking for the complete kit to install. With my truck being a 4x4 and higher than a regular truck would I need a lower profile hitch?

Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch to allow you to make tight turns without cab interference. The best fifth wheel hitch setup we can recommend is the B and W Slider Companion hitch part # BWRVK3400-5W. The Companion hitches are often referred to as the nicest fifth wheel hitches around and what's great about this setup is that the rail kit part # BWGNRK1308-5W that has been confirmed as a fit for your truck also doubles as a gooseneck hitch.
The height of your truck should not cause you to need a lower profile hitch. Most fifth wheel trucks that are out there towing are 4 wheel drive and we have never had any issues with them being harder to fit hitches for over a 2 wheel drive model.
