Recommended Brake Controller And Trailer Wiring Harness For 2015 Dodge Durango

Question:

Can you tell me what trailer hitch and wiring harness I need to buy for a 2015 Dodge Durango Citadel? I want to make sure I get one just like factory and with no trouble with it not fitting correctly or the wiring not correct. I see their are several to chose from and not sure which one to get. thanks

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2015 Durango is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75713.

This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch you can check out.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For a trailer wiring harness I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118617. Just plug in the harness to the vehicle wiring located behind the driver side and passenger side tail lights. Then run the hot lead wire to the vehicle battery with the inline fuse.

If you plan on towing, and your trailer has brakes, you will need a brake controller and a 7-way connector at the back of your Durango. I recommend part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way connector and with additional wiring gives you a 7-way connector for your trailer.

The brake controller I recommend is part # 90195. This is one of our most popular because it is easy to install and operate. I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring is run when installing a brake controller and an ETBC7. I also attached a link to a helpful article that explains the installation of a brake controller.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
