comparing Reese Goose Boxes # RP94720 and # RP94622

Hj, The only difference I see from the RP94622 and the RP94623 is the added reinforcement of spacer plate welded on the interior bolt area for extra strength. Is this so? The reason I am asking is I have a RP94622 in which I had on a 2005 Cross Roads Cross Terrain 36DS damaged in accident. I am reinstalling it on a 2014 Heartland Cyclone 4000HD with a 3200 pin weight and 14,095 lb. dry weight. My plan is to add spacer on the inside just to reinforce for piece of mind. What are your thoughts?

The main difference between Reese Goose Box adapters # RP94716 and # RP94720 is the amount of metal in each. The heavier duty # RP94720 has about 10 pounds more steel so that it can reach its 20,000 pound capacity. The lower capacity # RP94716 tops out at 16,000 pounds. Otherwise the bolt hole patterns, width, and length are the same between the 2.

I cannot recommend permanently attaching anything to the either unit or installing it in a way contrary to the installation instructions or it can void the warranty because it has been tested so keep that in mind moving forward.

If at all possible, I recommend using the heavier duty # RP94720 instead of adding anything to the lower capacity model.
