Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon for Carrying 4 Bike Rack

Hi, Im considering getting a hitch-mount bike rack and am currently thinking of getting the Yakima Ridgeback 4. I have a 2005 Subaru Outback XT Wagon and will need to add on a hitch. It looks like I can buy either a Class II or a Class III hitch- is there any reason to prefer the Class III hitch over the Class II hitch? It looks like the Class II hitch, e.g. the Draw-Tite Class II hitch 36334, has about an inch more ground clearance, which might be helpful with my driveway, but does having a Class III hitch result in a more secure/sturdier setup?

Class III hitches will generally have higher capacities and since they are a more popular size will have more accessories available that would fit them. Only drawback is that since the hitch opening is 3/4 of an inch taller the ground clearance can be slightly affected.

If it were me I would go with a Class III hitch for the reasons I listed. Especially if the plan is to carry a 4 bike rack that will end up weighing quite a bit when loaded. For that I would recommend the # 87446 which has been confirmed as a fit and would work well with the Yakima Ridgeback 4 # Y02458.
