Spare Tire Bike Rack Recommendation for 2006 Honda CR-V
Question:
Trying to determine which would be the best product choice for my 2006 Honda CRV. Either the Thule Spare Me or the Yakima Spare racks??? I understand both look suitable, but was hoping for an opinion if possible.

Both the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack # TH963PRO and the Yakima SpareRide 2 Bike Carrier # Y02599 are confirmed to fit your 2006 Honda CR-V and either will work well for your. Between the 2, my favorite is the Yakima SpareRide. The arms on the SpareRide rack are closer together than those on the Thule Spare Me, allowing for easier loading of your bikes. The SpareRide will also accommodate wider spare tires. I personally like the design of the SpareRide better.
Aside from the spacing of the arms, these bike racks have many of the same features. Both racks feature anti-sway cradles to help securely hold the bikes and prevent bike-to-bike contact during travel. The weight capacity of both racks is 35 pounds per bike, and both racks will allow you to lock the rack to your vehicle and the bikes to your rack.
I have attached a review video of the SpareRide rack for you.
If you plan on carrying bikes with alternative frames, such as kids' bikes or women's bikes, I recommend using an adapter bar, like # 64005. The adapter bar attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem. This allows the bike to be positioned more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
