For your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 short bed I would recommend a custom install fifth wheel rail kit like the part # RP56001-53 as this will be the easiest to install and will minimize drilling on your truck. You would end up spending over twice the time installing a universal kit compared to this one so I would recommend it highly. The frame brackets mount on the outside of the frame which allows the kit to install easier too.

These rails will work perfectly with the Pro Series Slider hitch part # PS30121. For a similarly rated slider hitch that would perform much better I would recommend the Reese part # RP30083. This hitch uses a single hook to secure the king pin which wraps around it tightly. Another advantage is a round tube slider which will operate much smoother than a square tube.
