Adapting a 4-Way Flat Connector on a Vehicle to Tow a Trailer with a 7-Way Connector

Question:

Hello, I have the opposite set up than what you are showing. My trailer has a 7 plug and my vehicle has a 4 plug flat. Can I use it this way as well?

Pollak adapter # PK12716 would not work but we do have what you will need. You need a 4-Way to 7-Way adapter # 37185. If you just need the lighting functions to work on the trailer then all you would do is plug your 4-Way into this adapter and ground the white wire to the vehicle frame.

If you need to have functioning electric brakes, 12 volt power, and/or reverse lights active for the trailer then instead of # 37185 you will need # ETBC7 and a brake controller (to control electric brakes, if applicable). For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it's easy to set up and use and it's reliable.

I have included a couple of links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
