Can Rack n Roll Trailer Handle Rough Roads when Loaded with 300 Pounds
Question:
1. I see mixed reviews for the trailer on dirt roads fire roads with wash board that cause vibration. Looking to tow with approx 300 lbs of gear. Do you need heavy duty shocks with that weight or will the comination of wash board and hd shocks be too stiff for the trailer Im taking an existing camp box from one trailer and installing on the rack and roll

Expert Reply:
First, the capacity of the Yakima Rack n Roll trailer # Y08106 is 250 pounds with the regular shocks that it comes with. To increase that capacity to 350 pounds you can add the HD shock kit # Y08110. When under load if you take it easy on rougher roads and don't drive too fast then you won't have a problem. But hitting a hole at speed could be detrimental for this or any trailer.
The Rack n Roll trailer isn't designed specifically for off road types of applications but it can handle it as long as you are careful and keep the speed low so that no sudden shock, like a pot hole, disrupts the zen of the trailer!
