Will the Prodigy RF Brake Controller Prevent a Trailer Mounted Battery from Charging

Question:

What charges the battery in the camper when a prodogy TK94FR is wired in line. Im thinking the power that operates the brake controller is taking the power from the battery recharging unit. Forgive me, im not well versed in the proper names of the products

The Prodigy RF brake controller # TK94FR does receive power from the 12 volt circuit in the trailer connector. But it is not taking anything away from the trailer mounted battery or its charger if equipped.

Think of it like an outlet in your house. You can have several things plugged into the same outlet and all of them will work (unless you REALLY overload it!). It is the same principle at work with the 12 volt circuit. Trailer mounted battery chargers and the charge required by the RF itself are minimal so neither would draw so much power as to interfere with the other.

I have same issue when in tow the tow vehicle not charging trailer battery when prodigy brake controller 90250 being used. Does not seem to allow current through to battery.

The Prodigy RF shouldn't prevent your trailer battery from getting a maintenance charge during travel. Have you tested the 12V wire before and after the RF to make sure that's where it loses power?
