Roof Rack Recommendation for 2015 Ford Transit 350

Question:

Two questions for you. The T350 doesnt have the gutter shown in the installation of the TA29610 ladder rack, but the example photo you show looks like my roof. May I assume this same rack somehow attaches by boring holes in the roof and do you have installation instructions for that? Secondly, my van is extended wheel base and extended length. Im envisioning loading my 16 foot canoe from the back side. To keep from dragging on the paint, one mount will need to be as close to the back as possible. The other mount, it would seem, should be less than 8 feet away to give the canoe something to drop onto besides the roof when the center of gravity shifts while loading. Do you think I should have a third rail or allow the canoe to hang 4 feet half of the 8 not between the rails hanging off the back?

The TracRac ladder rack part # TH29610XT that you referenced is confirmed as a fit for your 2015 Ford Transit T350. The pictures you see are typical photos that don't necessarily reflect how it would look. This rack is actually specifically designed for attaches to roofs that don't have gutters like yours.

This attaches to fixed mounting points on the roof of your vehicle that were designed for a roof rack. This would not mean you would need to install a track on the roof but it also means you can't install them further back on the roof if you wanted the bars moved.
