Question:
I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander. I had to install part 118449 to convert my 3 wire brake/tail lights system to a 2 wire system for combined lights. Now I want to install a Tekonsha brake controller and I was looking at the Tekonsha 3040-P brake control wiring adapter for Toyota to avoid splicing. Will that 3040-P work on my vehicle? The way I understand it, it plugs in under the dash at the same location the 118449 plugs in. So that plug is already being used leaving no place for the 3040-P to plug in. Am I correct?

For your 2013 Toyota Highlander there isn't a port under the dash for the install of a brake controller. What you would need is the part # ETBC7 to adapt the 4-way to a 7-way and install the brake controller. This comes with everything needed to install the controller and convert the 4-way to a 7-way. I attached an install video that shows exactly how this kit installs on a 2013 Toyota Highlander as yours.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
