Can T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118449 be Routed Under a 2008 Toyota highlander

Recently I purchased a hitch wiring kit for my 2008 Toyota Highlander. The instructions say to simply run the harness in the back out the rear door. The Toyota kit runs it out the bottom through a grommet, and to the rear of the hitch. I am wondering if you sell or have the grommet that allows the wire to pass through to the outside? The grommet looks like a regular grommet, but has two wings that allow wire to pass through and be taped up. Any help would be great.

We do not carry the grommet in question for your 2008 Toyota Highlander, but you may still be able to route the wiring under the vehicle and to the hitch using an existing grommet near the connection point for the wiring harness at the rear of the Highlander.

If there is a near by grommet that allows access to the outside of the vehicle, what you can do is to cut a small slit in it, pass the 4-Way through, and pull it over to the hitch. You will want to then seal up the slit using silicone or gasket maker like # LT37467, to keep the elements and fumes from entering the vehicle.

It is permissible to route the 4-Way out the rear hatch and close the lid on the wires (as long as they are not caught in any latching mechanism) when the harness is needed. The weather stripping will prevent the wires from being pinched. Take a look at the video install linked below. At about the 2 minute 30 second mark, our installer talks about routing the cable out of the rear hatch. When not needed, the harness can be stored in one of the storage compartments in the cargo area as outlined in the instructions linked below for reference.
