To install a trailer hitch like the Draw Tite hitch part # 36407 on your 2011 Chevy Impala you would need to temporarily lower the exhaust system so that you can install the hitch. It would get installed back in it's original location without any modification once the hitch is bolted in place. This is a very standard step for installing a trailer hitch.
