Carrying 4 Bikes Through Off-Road Conditions

Where we live the roads can be very brutal to both driver and vehicle alike. What I would like to know how much wobble can I expect from driving these almost off road conditions. Will this product take the beating? Is there an extra way of securing my four mountain bikes to reduce the wobble?? Thanks for your help

Both pins of the Pro Series Q-Slot PS63138 are threaded, anti-rattle bolts designed to reduce vibration and movement. However, with the roads you'll be on there will definitely be movement. According to Pro Series the rack extends 36 inches from the pin hole.

A better 4-bike hitch mount rack for you that will have less movement than the Pro Series is the Swagman XTC4 # S64665. This rack isn't two racks in one and therefore will not have the additional connection between the two sections. Since the Pro Series has an extension you get more movement between the two pieces. The solid, one piece, design of the XTC4 will reduce that. The XTC4 also has an anti-rattle hitch lock and comes with a cable lock to help secure the bike to the rack.

You can also use a stabilizing strap, such as # 18050 to help hold the bikes in place.

A better option to carry your bikes might be a roof mount bike rack. Or at least put two bikes on the roof and reduce the size of your hitch mount rack to only two bikes. If you give me the year, make, and model of your vehicle I can help you find a rack.
