You can use any of the trailer hitches we offer on your 2010 Ford Escape XLT without tow package. The absence of a factory hitch or tow package does not limit the options for you. With that said, you have numerous options. Basically, there are two classes of hitches available for your Escape, Class II and Class III. The difference is that the Class II hitches use a 1-1/4 inch receiver and have a lower capacity. Therefore, there are less accessories available and you are more limited in what you can tow.

Class III hitches use a 2 inch receiver opening and have a higher capacity. I would definitely recommend going with a Class III hitch for those reasons. I have included a link below that explains the differences in hitches classes.

For your Escape, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75751, that you have referenced. This hitch is a Class III and will fit models with or without a factory hitch and will also fit hybrid models. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing the installation on a 2005 model.

If you plan on doing some towing, the recommended ball mount is # C45010 for use with hitch ball # 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter), # 19247 (2 inch diameter), or # 63847 (2-5/16 inch diameter). I also recommend a Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # e98880, to deter theft of your hitch mounted accessories. For trailer wiring, you will need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118551. I have included a link to the installation details for the wiring as well.
