Is Brake Controller Plug-In Adapter Available For 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - GM. How does this install? I am having difficulty finding any literature, videos, pdfs, manuals or instructions on how and where this wiring connects to for a 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 non-desiel with trailer package. I am guessing that this cable allows for direct plug into somewhere, but where? in the vehicle. I am very interested in the plug and play if it works, before buying this product. thanks!

There is no plug in brake controller port on your 2016 Colorado so it does require hardwiring when you install a brake controller.

If you have a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your Colorado you can check out the attached installation video. This shows you how to test the wires and connect the brake controller I recommend like part # 90195.

If you do not have a trailer connector you will first need to install a 4-way trailer connector like part # HM11141164. You just plug this harness in to the connection points behind the tail lights, then run a hot lead wire to the positive battery post.

You then need part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way connector and then additional wiring is run as shown in the attached drawing. The drawing also shows how wiring is run for a brake controller.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.

I have also attached a couple helpful articles you can check out.
