Will Heavy Duty Modulite Circuit Protected Wiring Harness # 119190 Prevent Damage to my TIPM

would this be something we could use to protect the TIPM in our 2006 Dodge Ram from needing to be reflashed in the event of a problem in trailer wiring? We have a pickup camper and a boat we use and have already had to reflash once $200, have fixed the boat trailer wiring but dont want it to happen again. Thanks!

This Upgraded Modulite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 119190, you referenced features circuit protection that will safeguard your 2006 Dodge Ram from getting damaged due to mis-wires and electrical shorts.

The # 119190 uses the vehicle circuitry as a trigger only and uses the vehicle battery to actually power the trailer lighting, only about 0.5 milliamps are needed from the vehicles circuitry to trigger the turn, tail, and brake lights. This prevents excessive draw from your vehicles tail light circuitry and in doing so prevents the likelihood of shorts and other wiring damage to your Ram.

As long as the previous damage that occurred to your TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) was due to a trailer harness short or miss-wire the protective circuitry of the # 119190 should prevent the TIPM of your Dodge Ram from being damaged and having to be reflashed.

The wiring harness you would need for your 2006 Dodge Ram is the Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit with 4 Pole End, part # 119178KIT. This wiring harness has the same protective circuitry as the # 119190.
