Question:
Is this carrier easy to remove and reinstall at the hitch? I want to be able to switch between another hitch mounted carrier and a bike carrier.

The Yakima 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack # Y02457 will be very easy to remove from the vehicle's trailer hitch receiver. This rack is secured by a simple pin and clip that will not require any additional tools to install or remove. Additionally, the rack weights approximately 32 pounds on its own, so it will be pretty light to install and remove.
While the pin and clip design makes the rack easy to install and remove, it does not offer much security for the rack and it will allow the rack to rattle inside the hitch receiver. If you'd like to add extra security and anti-rattle features to this rack, I recommend the SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # SHP2082. This hitch pin will serve to keep the bike rack tight in the hitch receiver and also features a lock to prevent theft. The SilentACT has an integrated crank that lets you quickly and easily tighten the pin without requiring any additional tools. I've attached a review video of this hitch pin lock for you.
A cable lock, such as the 10 Foot Long Cable Lock # e98891, is a good way to lock your bikes to the rack to prevent theft of the bikes when you go in a restaurant or stop at a gas station.
