Roof Mount Ski Carrier that is Easy to Use in Ice and Snow

Question:

all those keys and straps to pull and locks to lock - in very cold windy conditions after day of skiing. just want something simple. that will lock securely without having to use a key. i dont want skies coming loose on the road. not crazy about the slide-out feature, just one more thing to fuss over, but i am shorter than the average male who uses this stuff i am female, 55 and my new vehicle crosstrek is a bit higher than the old one corolla. i had a nice thule rack on that. no problems, but i never used the key. ice and snow not conducive. do you have a recommendation? i have two pr xc skies - and poles. the old rack does not fit on the new car. if we get snow this season, the skies will live on the car. security not an issue at the center i patronize. plus, we will be using skies while there thanks for your help!!

The Thule SnowPack ski carrier # TH7325 is just about the perfect rack for you. Yes, it has multiple parts that can lock but you don't have to lock them. The skis will not come off because the carrier isn't locked. Locking it is at your discretion.

The straps on the feet that secure the carrier to the crossbars are only going to be an issue if you want to take the rack off the vehicle every time. Since you may have the skis on the vehicle all the time this winter you will only have to mess with the straps 1 time; during installation.

Regarding the keys the carrier comes with 2, both the same, and either will work in all the locks on the carrier. There are locks at each foot and one on each half of the carrier.

There is nothing to fuss over with the slide-out feature. Pull it out to make loading the skis easier. Once loaded push it back into place where it will stay; safe and secure. This is perfect for a shorter person and/or taller vehicle. Take a look at the video review I have linked on this carrier.
